AN INCLUSIVE MIDWIFERY PRACTICE
We strive to provide individualized, culturally, dynamic care. We understand the unique health needs and social issues in the community.
Where your home birth journey begins...
Your Home Birth Midwifery Care includes:
We offer global Midwifery care which includes comprehensive prenatals, labor monitoring and support. On the day of your labor and delivery we come to you!
PREGNANCY
We follow the Midwifery model of care at joyful homebirth. Prior to your baby’s birth, you will have prenatal visits, lasting approximately one hour, either in your home or at my Rocky Hill office location. The schedule of visits is monthly until 28 weeks, bi-weekly to 36 weeks when we do a visit home visit at. After 36 weeks we do weekly prenatal visits until you give birth.
BIRTH
I will be 24/7 ON CALL from 37 weeks onward and for the entirety of your birth and labor. While in labor you and your baby will be monitored and cared for by your midwife team. During your birth, you'll enjoy absolute freedom to move around in labor, relish immediate skin-to-skin and undisturbed bonding time, and have delayed cord clamping. If you are interested in having a water birth, I can provide an inflatable birth tub. Once baby is born, the in-home postpartum care usually lasts around 4 hours and includes a comprehensive newborn examination.
POSTPARTUM
We will have 2-4 postpartum visits. There will be a 24-hour postpartum visit and again at 3-5 days and as needed. The 6-week final postpartum visit will be at my office location. My birth team and I are committed to your care, from your pregnancy until the end of your postpartum period.
Meet Polina Westcott - Home Birth Coach. She works with families to help them navigate Home Birth. Her down-to-earth approach is refreshing and much needed for families since home birth is "out of hospital" and everything is planned by the family and the birth team. FATHERS AT THE BIRTH
This dad was able to participate in the birth of his child. Here he is cutting the cord. Fathers are very important and should be allowed to even "catch" there own baby. Many do.
It is equally important to have the siblings nearby as it "normalizes" home birth.

BREASTFEEDING COUNSELING
Breastfeeding is natural, but it doesn’t always come naturally in the beginning. If you are struggling with latch, engorgement, or simply need more support, we can help. To help new moms with breastfeeding we provide the services of a local lactation counselor, Sarah Silamianos, RN, IBLCLC. Sarah will do in person or zoom consultations and has been providing Breastfeeding zoom classes for all Joyful Home Birth LLC new moms.
