I had my fourth and fifth children through Joyful Home Birth. Carolyn was always kind, and out for my best interests. She was willing to do tons of home visit appointments throughout both of my pregnancies and postpartums. As these were not my first rodeos she allowed me to do what I felt best and most comfortable with in all situations. My fourth ended up having shoulder dystocia during the pushing process. Carolyn calmly and firm told me to move into a better position and fixed the dystocia in seconds. Baby came healthy and happy, a push later! My fifth had the cord wrapped around the neck and Carolyn was right there to slip it over the head and baby came out easy as pie. 🙂 I love that Carolyn has become a huge part of our birthing journey. She has so much knowledge of natural remedies and recovery tips. She also loves to learn, continuing to educate herself to better help her birthing mothers pre and post. Which appreciate endlessly.

In 2021 I contacted Carolyn to try to have dreamed home birth, but it was not possible. Now, in 2024, I contacted again and Carolyn still had my contact saved, but this time, thanks to Carolyn's generosity, it was finally possible to fulfill my dream of homebirth. Everything is very convenient with Carolyn! In prenatal appointments Carolyn was always very receptive, always showing her vast knowledge and always with the best guidelines and not to mention the home consultations at the end of pregnancy that she came to me and did all the necessary tests without me having to go to a laboratory, she collected the material and sent it herself to the lab. Carolyn provided the bathtub (wonderful) for water birth and in the last home appointment, at 40 weeks, She saw that we needed a piece and promptly went to the home depot, arranged the hookups and left everything perfect for the big day! And after the baby was born, she took care of everything! And today we are very happy with our baby and I with another dream come true, thanks to Carolyn's generosity in many ways.

Carolyn was very personal and dedicated to my well being throughout pregnancy and went above and beyond in the post partum days to make sure my baby and I were healthy and overall adjusting well/had the support needed.

Honestly My wife and I Never had a homebirth experience before. We were the first in our family to go through this experience. I'm grateful to Carolyn Greenfield of joyful home Birth and her birth team that they worked very professionally I’m glad that we had Carolyn as our Midwife. She stayed with us during a very long labor and helped us through it. Her calming presence made all the difference something which i must mentioned that We traveled from New York to Connecticut and the city was strange to us. Updated on 9/19: After a previous wonderful experience with Carolyn we decided to work with her again for the birth of our fourth child and couldn’t be happier. Carolyn demonstrated outstanding expertise in helping guide the baby into an ideal birthing position and was extremely supportive before, during, and after the birth. Despite being early in labor Carolyn planned to stay at our home overnight given that fourth children often come fast. Good thing because baby #4 was born happy and healthy barely two hours after assuming the ideal birth position! Labor was fast and furious but Carolyn was very supportive and suggested different positions that made the whole process smoother. For anyone considering a homebirth I highly recommend Carolyn as a midwife! Original Review: After two disappointing hospital births my husband and I decided to have our third child at home. Our home birth literally could not have gone any better thanks to Carolyn and her expertise!!! I went into labor on Christmas Eve of all days and Carolyn graciously left her family to help mine. I will forever be grateful for her superb care. Unlike the providers during my previous pregnancies, Carolyn gave me as much time as I needed at every appointment. I highly recommend Carolyn! We chose her because of her belief in physiological birth. We had a positive experience the entire pregnancy, birth and labor. She is Caring, Supportive and Knowledgeable. We had a unmediated labor and Carolyn was knowledgeable on herbal remedies which I loved, during the birth we had unforeseen complication our baby had shoulder dystocia and Carolyn was prompt and knowledgeable and delivered our big healthy babyboy. To anyone curious about home birth.... 💜❤💜 I had two previous children before my newborn. I had a vaginal delivery for my 14 yr old son and a c-section for my 5 yr old daughter. Both were delivered in hospitals and were completely different but equally horrible experiences. I did not want to go to a hospital again, especially knowing they would instantly preform another c-section due to my previous child. Upon getting pregnant, the father suggested that I have a home birth. I interviewed several different midwives in the Massachusetts and Connecticut area, however Carolyn was by far the best. She was personal, down to earth, professional, well educated as well as having experience and the proper equiptment. Throughout my pregnancy she was not only there for me physically but she provided me with emotional support as well. She came to my home for all the prenatal appointments, which was absolutely wonderful; bringing along all the equipment and tests to ensure my child and I were happy and healthy. When I went to deliver my son, I needed time to wait to push because his head was coming down crooked. Carolyn remained calm and talked me through different positions to help me through it. I delivered a healthy baby boy weighing 8 pounds and 8 ounces. I'm grateful I had her as my midwife. I had an amazing experience and if I become pregnant again there is no one else I could imagine calling. 💜❤💜 It was a beautiful experience in my own home surrounded by the people I know, love and trusted to help me through an amazing moment in my life - the birth of my son.

Carolyn at Joyful Homebirth is wonderful. A great listener and gave me the experience I was looking for. She is very accommodating since I was looking for someone a few months into my pregnancy. Very knowledgeable and experienced. I felt at ease and 100 percent recommend Carolyn.

Carolyn was fantastic! She came into our first birth when my when wife was 8 months along and just fit right in and was perfect for our birth plan. She was super knowledgeable and made everything so easy and brought about such an amount of confidence in myself and wife that made the birthing process so easy and enjoyable. She was our midwife again for our second child and there were zero hitches. She listened to what we wanted and made sure to give us all options so we could make informed and intelligent choices every step of the way. I would recommend her 100%.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Carolyn as my midwife. She started with me when I was just 9 weeks pregnant and was extremely helpful from day 1. I had a health scare that she promptly responded to and made appropriate referrals to assist me in obtaining answers. Her communication skills and commitment to client care is beyond commendable. With some unexpected complications that arose with my pregnancy she provided necessary forms, education, and resources to ensure I understood all of my choices. She is very much about her clients and us knowing we having options. She delivered my baby safely at home and provided quality postpartum care afterward. My entire experience exceeded any expectations I could have had! The biggest takeaway here is-know if you choose Carolyn as your midwife you will be taken care of, advocated for, and you will probably learn some new things along the way! She is a plethora of information and constantly furthering her education. We highly recommend Carolyn!

This is a review long overdue. It has now been a little over a year since the birth of my daughter and I am still happy with our purchase, (our daughter) lol In the spring of '22 we were still new to Connecticut and after finding out about the pregnancy we were worried on what to do. My wife contacted Carolyn after reading the awesome reviews and after a call we were a little hesitant from the conversation, but after meeting Carolyn in person we were confident... that we were still hesitant lol. We're thankful that we stayed because she is one of the most caring people we've met. Caring, warm, and definitely eccentric are what I would describe her. Sometimes a little "old school" in beliefs regarding men from her random comments when the conversation sometimes goes off the wall, but nothing too serious. Once labor began, she dropped what she was doing and headed our way. Aside from a few complaints towards her during the beginning of labor, she addressed them immediately and was never standoffish, defensive, or angry. She went into "gamemode," meaning concentrated, attentive, professional, and overall giving us reassurance that we will be ok. Another shoutout would be for her assistant, Anna, a wonderful person that I would need another few paragraphs to describe her awesomeness. Over the next couple of days she would stop by to check on us and I loved the little things she did for my wife during her visits that made her smile, as well giving us guidance in taking care of our newborn; us being new parents and all. Overall, Carolyn is a unique person and is someone who is knowledgeable. Always studying, staying up to date, and researching for the newest developments in childbirth care, I am sure that she is even more proficient and skilled during that meaningful moment in people's lives. I loved working with Carolyn so much I hired her for all 3 of my pregnancies! She is very informative, with my first baby she taught us all about the stages of labor as well as methods for pain management. She taught the father of my children how to use counter pressure for pain management during labor. She provided lots of informational articles and videos for us to learn from. During labor she worked around me no matter what position i wanted to be in for comfort, whether I was laying on my side or standing. She was also able to predict what would feel most comfortable based on the position of baby as well as change my position to readjust baby if necessary. Working with her through my 3 pregnancies has just been an overall great experience.

It really was such a joy to have Carolyn as my midwife. I got in touch with her about 2 months into my pregnancy so we got to know each other pretty well before the baby was here! She is very professional and informative about having a safe and healthy birth experience. I felt I was in good hands from start to finish. I am 4 months postpartum and it really is such a joy to think back to my birth experience with Carolyn and her assistants. They were all so warm and encouraging and made the birth feel that much easier. This was my first pregnancy and birth so I was experiencing a lot of new things at once. There was so much support though from everyone in the room which helped in keeping me calm and determined. I even ended up tearing which is not something I thought was going to happen but I had such trust for Carolyn and her team that it didn’t concern me as much as it might have. She did an amazing job with the stitching and keeping me calm in the process and her assistant Anna was like an Angel, helping me up and making sure I was ok physically and mentally. All around, would definitely recommend Carolyn to anyone looking for an amazing home birth experience. Her assistant got some great photos for us as well which was an unexpected surprise. I am very grateful!

There's so much I can say about Carolyn... but the main thing is that she is extremely professional and kind. My first midwife - Camille Lundy Grant (Rua Midwifery) abandoned me at 38 weeks. She made up all sorts of risk factors to try to risk me out of a home birth and then decided to keep the entire $4,500 I paid her (I'm still shocked that she kept money for services she didn't render)- It was so stressful! I had to scramble at 38 weeks to calmly find a midwife who was willing to take the risk of working with such a late pregnancy, and could give me the kind of peaceful experience I desired. Thankfully Carolyn was up to the task and we had the most amazing birth experience. She answered all my questions and was available whenever I needed her. And the birth was something out of the most amazing dream. I am still basking in how amazing the birth was. I'm so thankful that I got the chance to work with Carolyn and her assistant. If you're considering working with Carolyn, I highly recommend her.

Carolyn made our birthing experience so safe and wonderful. The fear and reality of ignored complications, negligence, trauma and prejudice of black women during labor and delivery in hospitals is an experience hard to overlook/undergo. That wasn’t an option for me. Our family sought safety, autonomy, understanding and a birthing relationship with a midwife who would see me and my partner and where our rights and voice were respected. Carolyn is one great midwife, i had the best pre and post natal care with her, she responds fast when questions arrive, and is very generous! I also always had my children with me and she has no problem with that, she even lets the kids help and explains everything so well! My birth was very relaxed and never had one time that i would be doubting her and never felt I’m in wrong hands or scared. It was a beautiful experience! I also love her office, you can see how much effort and love she puts in her work!

My experience with Carolyn was a wonderful one. I never felt like I was just a patient and always felt seen and heard during every prenatal visit. Any time I had a concern Carolyn always took me seriously and always had a suggestion to help. The birth of my baby could not have gone any better than it did and I firmly believe that that is because I received quality prenatal care and had an experienced midwife present. I’m fairly certain that I won’t be having any more babies but if I do, I’ll definitely be hiring Carolyn again.

She is amazing honestly very open and up front I felt so comfortable with her she let me know exactly what I needed offered advice recommended supplements that me as a vegetarian may need more of. A wealth of knowledge very down to earth! I can say that I haven’t felt this comfortable with a provider in a while she makes me want to have another baby just for the full experience because if I do have another baby or discuss that she is first in my list! Carolyn delivered my daughter this past January and it was an incredible experience. She empowered me to have the best birth experience for myself and my daughter and even managed a complication (shoulder dystocia) herself in real time allowing my daughter to have a safe entrance to the world! Carolyn is an excellent midwife who takes precautions and gets you prepared for birth. She helped me get my levels up when they were completely down. I was in trouble of not being able to give birth at home because of my anemia. She even bought things for me that she didn’t have to. My husband was able to ask questions and there were many conversations, booklets and pamphlets for him so he could be prepared for the birth of our baby. The birth team was absolutely excellent. They really tended to my needs and were with me all night long. It felt so comfortable , like a family just waiting for baby to come. Carolyn was so funny and an absolute joy. I will miss her being my midwife dearly.

She was patient with my year and a half old son as he “helped.” She offered many options when faced with some of the “challenges” of pregnancy and respected our choices. This was our third baby but our first homebirth and we were blessed with an easy and uncomplicated birth in the comfort of our home. We loved the whole experience. Carolyn provided adequate prenatal care and sprung into action when it was time for baby to be born. She listened to every birth wish I had. We loved having her and her wonderful assistant. By the will of Allah everything went great. It was a great experience we had with CPM Carolyn Greenfield for our child born in early 2021. My wife enjoyed the entire experience and felt Carolyn was very knowledgeable, helpful, and caring. She takes pride in her work and makes you feel very informed throughout the entire home birth process. She explained the finances to us and how much we would be paying out of of pocket, which turned out to be way less than expected. Dr. Jane Srinivasan, my wife’s OBGYN, referred us to Carolyn for a home birth mid-wife and when we met here we didn’t look back. My wife and I are now home birth believers and it takes the stress out of having to go to the hospital for a birth. Everything was done in our apartment, which included the prenatal visits, the birth/delivery, and post natal/follow up visits. We are god fearing and a religious family and she was very sensitive to our preferences and we seen most things eye to eye with Carolyn. This first home birth for us was not our first child so we know how stressful and uncomfortable a hospital birth can be. Would definitely go back to Carolyn!

Our little one came early so unfortunately we could not have a home birth however we received the best prenatal care from Carolyn. She has also been a great help with out postpartum care.
